Native Shrubs
The shrubs listed here are "native", but more important they are proven performers - hardy, fitting into a wide variety of habitats, valuable to wildlife, useful for stabilizing streambanks and/or controlling soil erosion.

Trees
Prince Edward Island is classified under the Acadian Forest region. However, many of the original species found in the virgin PEI forest are no longer represented or scattered in a few locations. Learn about our native species and how and where to plant them to help restore our Acadian Forests.

Birds
This section has grown from checklists to the birds of Prince Edward Island into a wide ranging resource for birding information. Includes links to trend analysis of breeding and wintering birds on PEI.

Amphibians
Amphibians are an often overlooked feature of woodlands and other areas due to their nature. However, it is clear that amphibians play an important role in ecosystem health and can act as enviromental indicators. The Macphail Woods has been monitoring amphibian population for a number of years.

Wildflowers
