On Saturday, August 2, you’re invited to a celebration of Kate Poole’s creativity at the Macphail Woods Nature Centre in Orwell. Kate is an outstanding talent and many of her paintings, woodwork and glass creations are at the Nature Centre, along with her planting endeavours throughout Macphail Woods. The event will run from 3pm to 9pm, and include lots of great food, children’s activities, nature walks and live music.

Kate’s spirit and talents have been important contributors to the success of the Macphail Woods Ecological Forestry Project. She has helped in almost every way imaginable, from illustrating all of our publications to creating the artwork in the Nature Centre. She has built bird feeders and feeder holders, carved a bird bath out of a block of sandstone, planted a teaching circle using native species and decorated the glass doors and entryway.

All of this has been done with little fanfare or credit. Now we’ll be able to shine a light on the full range of her talent. Kate’s wonderful CD will be on sale, as well as cards with her illustrations. We will also have lots of examples of Kate’s woodwork, collages and paintings. Staff of Macphail Woods will be leading the children’s activities and a series of nature walks throughout the afternoon and evening. Please come and support this great Island artist.
